Health Ministry
St. Barnabas health ministry is comprehensive including:
  • the services of a parish nurse,
  • Share the Care, an organization of volunteers to assist individuals and families in health emergencies or other crises,
  • Pastoral Care offering spiritual support, hospital and home visits with the Eucharist, and healing prayers for members, families and friends, and a
  • Card ministry to friends who have experienced illness or a loss.

To request health ministry services, contact
Deb Angell.

Our Parish Nurse
St. Barnabas collaborates with three other congregations in support of a shared parish nurse. St. Barnabas staff member, Joan Jarboe, RN, BSN, supports our church family by promoting health, wellness and healing through education and spiritual support.  She provides

  • health education services to the parish
  • organizes an annual health fair and blood drive,
  • disseminates health information through the church's communications channels.

In addition, Joan provides individual support and advocacy including:

  • Blood pressure screening with consultation on the last Sunday of the month,
  • Flu vaccinations in the fall,
  • Consultation on health issues,
  • Assistance to medical appointments,
  • .Referrals to agencies, community services or specialists, and
  • personal visitations at home and in health care facilities.

Share the Care
Share the Care helps members of the St. Barnabas family in times of need, providing meals, transportation, home visits and other helpful services.  The program is strictly confidential and responsive to individual concerns and dietary considerations. The Rev. Deb Angell, Joan Jarboe, Parish Nurse, and Jan McPhail, Volunteer Coordinator work together to coordinate individual health, personal and pastoral services.

Pastoral Care
When members and friends need spiritual support because of illness, accident, the birth of a new baby, the loss of a loved one or a physical or emotional crisis, they can rely on the help
of the pastoral team including our priests and Lay Eucharistic Ministers.

To have your name or the name of a family member or friend included in the healing prayers on Sunday, please contact Carol Anderson, the Parish Administrator.
