Liturgical Art

St. Barnabas is a community that believes that our spirits are enlivened by the arts. The congregation has participated in several art projects that enhance the worship environment. A series of fabric mosaic tapestries have been designed by artist Ken Phillips and executed under his direction. One series in hues of rich blue, purple, and magenta enhances the worship environment during the season of Advent (photos at right).

Another series depicts the Garden of Gethsemane and sets the environment for the Maundy Thursday prayer vigil as the "garden of repose."

Ken Phillips also designed and created a fabric tapestry series depicting God's spirit alive in creation's swirling color and movement (pictured below).
